Visual Acuity Assessment:

• Doctors must assess visual acuity using the Snellen chart supplied by Motormedicals, at a distance of 3 meters, ensuring that each eye is tested individually.
• Both uncorrected and corrected vision must be assessed and documented accurately.

Review of Medical History:

• Doctors are responsible for reviewing the patient’s medical history as part of the medical examination process, where this has been stipulated as part of the assessment. 
• Ensure that all relevant paperwork, including medical records, matches the requirements set forth by the appropriate council and regulatory bodies.
• It is the doctor’s responsibility to ensure that all necessary documentation is reviewed and in order, as specified by the council or licensing body.

Urine Tests:

• Doctors must conduct urine tests where required by the relevant council or licensing body. Ensure that test procedures are followed rigorously and the results are properly recorded.

Identification and Address Verification:

• Prior to conducting any medical assessments, verify the patient’s identification and check their address, especially where required for council-specific regulations.
• This is to ensure that the individual being assessed is correctly identified and the relevant council’s requirements are met.

Blood Pressure Monitoring:

• Blood pressure must be taken three times to ensure accuracy, with the lowest reading being recorded as the official measurement.
• This is to confirm that the patient’s blood pressure falls within the acceptable range as required for Group 2 drivers.

Cardiovascular Assessments:

• Cardiovascular health assessments must be conducted where necessary, including but not limited to direct stipulation, assessment required due to symptoms or general suspicion of cardiovascular disease.  
• These assessments must be in line with the standards set by the relevant medical and regulatory bodies.

Compliance with Other Medical Standards:

• In addition to Group 2 driver medicals, doctors should also ensure compliance with other medical standards, including but not limited to Occupational Health, Sport & Sea medicals, and Safety Critical medical assessments, where applicable.
• Ensure that the procedures, forms, and evaluations align with the specific requirements of each medical category.

General Responsibility:

• It is the doctor’s responsibility to ensure that all medical assessments and records are conducted thoroughly and in compliance with the guidelines set forth by Motormedicals and relevant regulatory bodies.
• All medical assessments must be carried out with professionalism, accuracy, and in adherence to the highest standards of medical practice.
