At Motor Medicals, we now offer specialist Jockey Medicals for horse racing participants.
Whether you’re applying for your British Horseracing Authority (BHA) licence, renewing your Point-to-Point Rider’s Certificate, or taking part in amateur, professional or pony racing, our experienced doctors are here to support you.
What is a Jockey Medical?
A jockey medical is an essential health assessment designed to confirm that you are medically fit to ride in horse racing competitions.
It typically involves a full medical history review, physical examination, and vision assessment — ensuring your safety and that of your horse and others around you.
At Motor Medicals, all medicals are carried out by GMC-registered doctors who are familiar with the jockey medical requirements.
What's Included in a Jockey Medical?
Some riders (depending on licence type) may require a baseline concussion test or ECG.
We can assist in arranging these if needed however we do not provide these in clinics.

Who Needs a Jockey Medical?
You may require a jockey medical if you are:
