What Does My Council Require?
Every local council has different requirements when it comes to taxi medicals. Some councils require a full copy of your GP medical records, while others may accept a summary printout from your GP or the NHS App. Some councils also have their own medical forms that must be completed.
Before booking your taxi medical, it’s important to check exactly what your licensing authority needs — this ensures your medical will be accepted without delays.

Where Can I find my Taxi Council Medical Form?
There are three common ways to get the right form:
Download it yourself – We’ve made it easy by collecting PDF forms for most UK councils on one page.
Request it from your council – Some councils prefer to email or post the form directly to you.
Ask the council to send it to us – In some cases, you can request the council to email the form directly to us before your appointment.
When to Renew Your Taxi Medical?
How often you need to do this depends on your local council and your age.
Here’s a general guide:
Every 5 years – Most councils require a medical every 5 years between the ages of 45 and 65.
Annually – Once you turn 65, many councils require a medical every year.
At licence application – You’ll usually need a medical when first applying for your taxi licence.
If your health changes – Some councils may ask for an earlier medical if you declare a medical condition or after certain illnesses.

Taxi medicals are completed to a Group 2 medical standard. Once your assessment is complete, we’ll issue you with a driver medical certificate if you meet the Councils and DVLA’s requirements for medical fitness to drive
